Interesting feedback

I appreciate the honesty of the feedback so far. I hope that posting will not be a burden as some of you suspect. Because many of you will be on the computer for research paper or other classes, I hope that this will just be a short pit stop during the time you would normally spend in front of the computer.

New topic: Research Papers....

You have to do one, so don't even entertain the idea of not doing one. The question is, what is the worst part of the research paper process? I don't want teacher's names; I want specific parts of the paper or assignments within the process that you dread.

Research Paper info will be revealed later this week!

The actual research part is the worst aspect of a research paper.

The aspect of the research paper that I truly dread is finding direct quotes to include in the body paragraphs. I don't mind the research because that comes easily in the school library and the assistance of the librarians. Lastly, the MLA workscited page can be a hassle unless you seek the librarians or the MLA handbook. Overall the research paper is something that is dreaded especially with seniors but it makes the third nine weeks pass by.

The research paper is no fun. The only way to make it somewhat ok, is to let us write about current topics that we choose. And do not make us include some ridiculous number of quotes just because you want to.

Research and the actually getting started of the paper are the worst part to me. The works cited page is definitely not fun either.

The worst part of a research paper is when you get so in depth on one topic that you forget what you are writing about. You completely lose site of your major points because you have gotten so in depth. Thats why I was really excited you wouldn't stress over it too much. Another part is all of the little, pointless, MLA nit-picky junk. I know you said no names but if you need anyone to go to for advice go to Mrs. Hightower, the one year I had her was more informative when dealing with papers than any of the others before.

I really really really don't like research papers! The worst part is that we have to do it in the 3rd nine weeks of our senior year...and i really don't want to do anything this semester! I don't like the 50,000 drafts and the notecards that come along with it. I also don't like the fact that it is such a large percentage of our grade.

I agree with Ashton that the worst part of a research paper is finding all of the quotes. They are a hassle to cite and punctuate correctly. Research papers I have done dealing with boring literature (like this one)usually end up being extremely repetitive. I end up making the exact same argument just written in a different way.

If Max could come up with a more creative, intelligent, and insightful comment that does not include the word "blow" that would be helpful.

I also agree that the quotes are the worst part about the research paper. I don't mind if there are a few but if a lot are required its kind of hard. I like notecards though because it keeps me organized. It also can be easy extra points sometimes.

The worst part i think is putting everything together to actually make sense. I really didnt like the form last year of Topic Sentence- Subject Sentence - Supporting Sentence - Supporting Sentence - Supporting Sentence - Transitional Sentence - Point. And in that order. I know it looks easy, but when writing the paper, i just like to write, not go in form of sentences.

Along with the research papers in general, I really just hate the notecards! Even though they help you stay organized and stuff, I just hate how picky teachers are with them. You have to have one fact on each one and then you have to have like the source it came from and all this other stuff, and it just sucks! I personally would rather just highlight cause that to me is easier. The quotes suck too.. haha

Honestly, I like doing things that lead up to the actual research paper such as notecards. They help to keep my thoughts organized. However, I hate having specific rules and restrictions put on the planning process.

Please don't make us do notecards, it's so stupid, and I'm very confident we will not have to turn notecards in when we are in college.

I'm not sure what to think about the electronic notecard idea you (Mrs. C) proposed in class today. I guess they will be easier to keep up with and will keep us more organized. But, when it comes down to it, they are still notecards, and as 15 other people have already said, notecards are not my favorite part of a research paper.

I don't mind research papers so much, they aren't that hard to compile. With today's technology (i.e. the internet), it is easy to get information and find out the MLA format to display the information.

I hate researching. I wish I could just write what I know instead of writing what I think through the words of other people. I think we should be allowed some freedom to pick our topic because the paper itself is already bad enough

I agree with AbbyW5. I sometimes like having the notecards because they help me to stay organized, but I don't like being forced to make them. I think everything would be easier for everyone if you let us choose our own way to stay organized!
