Song Lyric Project

Yes, I gave an extension on the song lyric project. It is now due Tuesday. In honor of that, post a copy of one of your favorite lyrics from a song (complete with song name and artist, please). Keep in mind that songs with objectional content are not really good candidates for this one.

"Where'd all the good people go?I've been changin channels I dont see them on the tv shows Whered all the good people go We got heaps and heaps of what we sow."
- Jack Johnson- "Good People"

This is your life, are you who you want to be?
This is your life, is it everything that you dreamed
That it would be when the world was younger,
And you had everything to lose?

Kind of a weird song here, but hey anything for an extension right.

Anyway I'll probably use this in my project.

Anna Begins

My friend assures me it’s all or nothing
I am not worried- I am not overly concerned
My friend implores me for one time only,
Make an exception. I am not not worried
Wrap her up in a package of lies
Send her off to a coconut island
I am not worried - I am not overly concerned
With the status of my emotions
Oh, she says, were changing.
But were always changing
It does not bother me to say this isn’t love
Because if you don’t want to talk about it then it isn’t love
And I guess I’m going to have to live that
But, I’m sure there’s something in a shade of gray
Or something in between
And I can always change my name if that’s what you mean
My friend assures me it’s all or nothing`
But I am not really worried
I am not overly concerned
You try to tell your self the things you try tell your self to make
Yourself forget
To make your self forget
I am not worried
If it’s love she said, then were gonna have to think about the
Consequences
She can’t stop shaking and I can t stop touching her and.....
This time when kindness falls like rain
It washes her away and anna begins to change her mind
These seconds when I’m shaking leave me shuddering
For days she says.
And I’m not ready for this sort of thing
But I’m not gonna break
And I’m not going to worry about it anymore
I’m not gonna bend. and I’m not gonna break and
I’m not gonna worry about it anymore
It seems like I should say as long as this is love...
But it’s not all that easy so maybe I should just
Snap her up in a butterfly net-
Pin her down on a photograph album
I am not worried
I’ve done this sort of thing before
But then I start to think about the consequences
Because I don’t get no sleep in a quiet room and...
The time when kindness falls like rain
It washes me away and anna begins change my mind
And every time she sneezes I believe it’s love
And oh lord.... I’m not ready for this sort of thing
She s talking in her sleep-it s keeping me awake
And anna begins to toss and turn
And every word is nonsense but I understand it and
Oh lord. I m not ready for this sort of thing
Her kindness bangs a gong
It’s moving me along and anna begins to fade away
It s chasing me away. she dissappears, and oh lord I’m not ready for this sort of thing

He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper

Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming

Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die

Driving in on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange

And all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way

Candyman teasing the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Programs cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut

Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die

"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,

The sky fell down upon us and
stole away my oxygen
and left me standing breathless there with you
The ocean wrapped around the sun
The smell of June,
the taste of your tongue
is all I'd ever need

"I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps

They bought and sold you."

There are few things pure in this world anymore, and home is one of the few
We'd have a drink outside maybe run and hide, if we saw a couple men in blue
But to me it's so damn easy to see that your people are the people at home
Well I been away but now I'm back today and there ain't a place I'd rather go

I feel home when I see the faces that remember my own
I feel home when I'm chillin outside with the people I know
I feel home, and that's just what I feel
Cause home, to me, is reality and all I need is something real

We're feeling alright headin out tonight maybe off to a dark driveway
I say now, some feel bored, and some are looking for more, but we all just decide to stay
We got nothing to do, but when I look at you I see something that I know and love
And with the crack of a smile we all stay awhile, we know from home their ain't nothin above

Well in the end, we can all call a friend, well that's something that I know as true
In a thousand years, and a thousand tears, I'll come finding my original crew
Cause to me throughout eternity there is somewhere we are welcome to go
I said it's something free that means a lot to me, when I'm with my friends I feel home

I feel home when I see the faces that remember my own
I feel home when I'm chillin outside with the people I know
I feel home, and that's just what I feel
Cause home, to me, is reality and all I need is something real
Home to me is reality and all I need is something real, I feel home

This is by The Beatles. "Ob la di ob la da." I like it because the chorus "ob la di ob la da life goes on bra" really doensn't mean much because "ob la di ob la da" really is jibberish. Anyways, it's cool because it makes life seem less tense and carefree.

"Step inside the sound of something there for you to find,
Leave your bag of worrys far behind you,
Turning all around you can't contain yourself inside,
So you move outside the lines that once defined you.
Symphonys and shadows steal the silence from your head,
Like a ship thats taken by the sea,
Written words are seldom heard as often as they're said,
So the only way to have your say is screaming"

"525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure,
measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes - how do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of love."

"Such Great Heights"
I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you're away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home

They will see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay...

I tried my best to leave this all on your
Machine but the persistent beat it sounded
Thin upon listening
And that frankly will not fly. You will hear
The shrillest highs and lowest lows with
The windows down when this is guiding you home

"Am I more than you bargained for yet
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear
Cause that's just who I am this week
Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
(A notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song)

Drop a heart, break a name
We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team

We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it" --Fall Out Boy, "Sugar We're Going Down"

There is no way I can pick favorites. Like if you pick something and say it's your favorite, later when you find something you like better, it would be like lying to yourself. So i'll just pick a random song lyrics at random. It's going to be random anyway, so don't even try to make sense of it.

"The ocean floor is hidden
From your viewing lens
A depth perception
Languished in the night
All my life,I’ve been
Sewing the wounds
But the seeds sprout
A lachrymal cloud

Nino preparate
Que vas sufrir
Nino preparate
Salte veneno
Nino preparate
Salte de aqui
Nino preparate
Labios temblando
Nino preparate
Salte veneno
Nino preparate
Salte de aqui
Nino preparate
Brincan los cuerpos
Vas a sufrir

My nails peel back
When the taxidermist ruined
Goose stepped the freckling impatience
All the brittle tombs
Five hundred little q’s
I’m splitting hairs to
Match the faces

All night long I’ll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia naci

Now this train don’t lie
An abortion that survived
A lineage of
Bastard mastacation
All the severed proof
Talons scratch my suite
These are the feathers
That replace them

All night I’ll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia nacĂ

Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb
I found the remnants
Of a crescent fang
It cleaned my wing
Down to the bone
Umbilical syllables
Left to decode
There was no cradle
I can taste it
Come on now

All night I’ll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia naci

Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb
Bring me this plague
She took a drink
Those nicotine stains
On his every word
My scavenger quilt
Will only hide the truth
Bring me
Bring me this plague
I count the days to find
What was left behind
Only these names I clutch
Will lead me to my home
Somehow this river marks
A wrinkle hand in mine
And everyday that parts
The water into two
Mothers and feathers start
To drown the living proof
I can’t remember these lakes of blood
Wrapped in a blanket
There sweats a cut
Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb"
- The Mars Volta "Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus"

"The river of doubt gave birth to a beautiful stone
and in my hands I held it and I knew I was on my own
so I picked it up and held it to the sky
and in my reflection. I knew I was all alone
then I saw this girl with the most beautiful hair
she had it wrapped around her for clothes she did not wear
I asked her for a lock and she complied, after leaving
gorgeous footsteps in the sand as if she didn't care
she was the prettiest girl I ever saw
the stone lay still without a flaw
the feelings I had defied the law
as I came to, I went to
and I took a look, a look down the road
to see a badger and a one eyed toad
they didn't say a word, they just looked at me
with that wise old look of the old
then I went to down to town
to my favorite merry-go-round
to the place where magic horses fly
and you seldom see a frown

[CHORUS]
but then I stole a ring from the flying horses
and I can't begin to explain how
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and it's all rusty now
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and I can't begin to explain how
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and it's all rusty now

You see 'cause that stone fell through my pocket
and that lock of hair flew away with the wind
If you chance to meet upon either
well you know where they've been
but don't pick them up or try to find me
they're much happier to be on their own
beauty like that knows no home
and then if you take a look, a look down the road
you'll see a badger and a one eyed toad
they won't say a workd they'll just look at you
with that wise look of the old

[CHORUS]"

Glamorous
Indie rock'n'roll is what I need
It's in my soul, it's what I need
Indie rock'n'roll, it's time
Two of us
Flipping through a thrift store magazine
She plays the drums, I'm on tambourine
Bet your, your bottom dollar on me

There is a lot more (obviously) but you get the gist.
