Shakespeare
We are starting Shakespeare'sTragedy of Macbethon Monday. What has been your experience with studying Shakespeare? Have you liked it? Hated it? Slept through it? Acted it? Include all of the plays you can remember studying or seeing in movie form.

The only time i've ever really studied shakespear was in 9th grade when we did Romeo and Juliet. I would have to say that i really did not enjoy it mainly because it involved acting and a lot of memorization, both of which i'm not very good at. I do like the movie Romeo and Juliet though. Haha
The only thing I remeber about studying Shakespeare is when we were forced into acting out Romeo and Juliet in 9th grade. I still wonder why in the world we did that. It was a terrible story and we shouldn't waste time with any of his writings because it will make us so bored and not like this class.
I do not enjoy studying Shakespeare at all. The writing is hard to understand and has a lot to do with true love and other stuff I dont like to read about. In my opinion we should not study this subject and concentrate on something different.

Anyways, i dont think shakespeare is that bad, although many of the love stories make me hurt inside because of the many times that my heart has yearned for something as sweet as a Shakespearian Sonnet, but, alas, i always end up with my heart broken and weeping in the corner of my bathroom with a carton of chocolate ice cream.
My personal experience with Shakespeare dates back to ninth grade where Mrs. B made it almost unbearable to read Romeo and Juliet. However, I did enjoy acting out the skits and found it somewhat interesting to play the role of Mercutio. The plays that I have studied include Romeo and Juliet and Caesar. The plays that I have seen in movie form are Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love.
I've actually been interested in shakespeare since elementary school. I really just love his work. His works always contain the most entertaining characters. Mercutio would have to be my favorite but Puck comes a close second.
Well we studied Romeo and Juliet in 9th grade, and it was horrible. They pooled the classes together so that there were a lot of people, and then split us into groups. The groups were random, so you were put with people that you weren't friends with, which would have been fine, except for the fact that a lot of people aren't comfortable acting in front of people...especially people they don't know very well or at all.
I did not like studying Shakespeare very much, because it took me a while to be able to understand what they were trying to say. I would have to read something twice to fully understand the meaning, but I hope that it will be easier this time.
I remember acting in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 6th grade at crestline. It was fun because nearly the entire grade was in it, and we weren't forced into participating. I think the J High english teachers took the whole shakespeare thing a little too far. Studying and acting the play is reasonable, but dragging it on for an entire 9 weeks is insane.
I actually enjoy Shakespeare's writings. His comedies are very interesting and genuinely funny, but studying and analyzing every aspect of his work can sometimes be boring. Perhaps we could incorporate his plays/characters into something interesting and fun?
