Unwritten rules

Vacations...
We have all taken vacations with our family or with friends. It may not have been to an exotic location, but anywhere but home is often enough to call it a vacation. Answer two questions:
  1. Where was your favorite vacation?
  2. Were there any family guidelines, plans, or unwritten rules regarding your time away that you can share?

Ex. 1. Gatlinburg when I was 8.

2. My mom would not allow us to sleep past 8, and I was not allowed to buy food at gas stations (we brought our own snacks in the car)

1. Trip to Spain after 4th grade
2. One condition - It was my uncles wedding and I had to wear the most horendous dress (to be a flower girl in the wedding) and be nice to all of the Spanish mothers (relatives to the bride) who thought that I was just "so cute". I will forever think that foreigners are totally weird!!!!

A vacation that I will always remember is when my parents and one of my brothers went on a roadtrip through Florida. It wasn't necessarily the "most fun" thing I would've thought to do in 8th grade, but my parents planned it so we went, and it ended up being a good bonding time w/ my brother. Plus we got authentic Cuban food in Miami. We also enjoyed the sunset in Key West where they have a little festival sort of thing every dusk. One of my favorite parts was this little hotel we discovered in the middle of the night as a "last resort" if you will; we woke up to see it for the first time and it ended up being so cute and beachy. It was definitely the best place we stayed the whole time. Wow...I didn't realize I had written that much until now, so as for the second question--no we didn't have rules.

Hmm, well as far as family vacations go, my two favorites were probably a Dude Ranch in Colorado when I was 8 and a trip to Belize when I was 10 or 11. As far as I know there were not any special rules on these vacations. I never really did anything that stupid though so there were quite a few unwritten rules I never even thought of to break.

1. Perdido Key near Orange Beach, AL

2. My family loves car games. Everything from the on going lisence place games, the alphabet game, 20 questions, to the unheard of batlle ship, put on paper, game.
3. We, mostly my brother, would get pulled over to the side of the road, taken behind the car and given a spanking.....if we were really bad. I think I only got one in my childhood years, apparently, once was enough.

My favorite vacation in the entire world was not with my family. It was actually this past Spring Break in Grayton, FL with all of my best friends and our entire grade(most of yall will agree with me on this one). A few of the rules we had to abide by were:
NO drama- NO NO NO NO DRAMA!(Like, boys fighting etc.)
and obviously...To have fun!
...There were alot more that we made up on our own, but I'm way to lazy to type it all

My favorite was my 2 week backpacking trip in 9th grade. As for rules, the whole don't hang out ith strangers rule always applies, but for the most part my parents are getting fairly lose about the childish rules.

The sweetest trip i have taken was probably when my dad and i went to new orleans for the sugar bowl. to watch the auburn- virginia tech game. We ate at a bunch of really nice places and had a pretty awesome time on bourbon street. One of my dad's friends won 4,000 dollars at blackjack, and he bought me this sweet orange pimpcoat that i wore to the game. We also won the game. Too bad the city was destroyed and is run by stupid people that blame President bush for everything. (i just couldn't resist that last part)

1. Well, I've taken some pretty cool trips. 3 to California, 2 to Europe, a few to Utah. But just for the sake of this blog, I'll just say Los Angeles last Spring Break.

2. Not really. We watched a lot of Buffy and went to a Rocky Horror Picture Show thing. It was all pretty sweet. And Amoeba Music was awesome too. I don't really know what this question was supposed to be, I'm just reminiscing. God, so many cool trips I have been on!

So far my favorite vacation was when I went to Austria with all 35 beavers in tenth grade. It was the ultimate trip. There was no drinking age and so it was like a fellow beaver said "The beavers gone wild" (the beavers is 6 families combined that practly do everything together)

1. Trip to Jamaica when I was 15.
2. We were pretty much allowed to go where we wanted and eat what we wished because we were in a resort area. The only rules we had were: No leaving the condo after my parents had gone to sleep and no leaving the resort. It was a good trip.

One of my most favorite trips was when my family traveled to London. It was the first time I had been out of the country and certainly the farthest away from home I had traveled. Once there, I was not allowed to wonder off on my own as I could do at home. I was in unfamiliar territory so I had to always be alert and aware of my surroundings.

My favoite vacation so far would have to be the recent Spring Break trip I took with my family and two friends: caitlin and melissa. We went down to Sandestin. The best thing about the trip was that Mel drove her car down following my parents. The car ride was awesome. I made braclets, ate snacks, and listened to my Ipod. My parents had one rule; that we had to call every two or three hours. That was okay with us. It was great and we had a ton of memories.

Ever heard the phrase, " Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt?" Well to say the slightest, our family has toured all over the world, partly due to my mom's airline benefits. I really enjoyed our family trip to Amsterdam when I was in the eighth grade. All of our sight seeing and adventures were spontaneous. My family took a canal tour, which was very insightful about the Dutch people. The red light district was the grand finale.

One of my favorite trips was a trip to Austria in 10th grade. A group of about 30 went for a week during spring break. We all had so much fun. From what I can remeber our parents did not set any rules, we kind of had free range to do what we wanted, they just wanted us to have fun. The only thing that the required that we do was a trip to salzburg.

My favorite vacation was the summer after 10th grade on the school trip to France. We got to see all the gorgeous sights, some historic places that were pretty cool, and eat a lots of cute little cafes. I think the only rule was that you had to stay with 2 other people at all times. Other than that, they let us roam around the city by ourselves.

My favorite trip was a vacation to Hawaii in the summer of 2003. It was a very relaxing trip and I had nothing to worry about. There were also not any rules so I was able to do what I wanted.

My favorite trip would have to the sailing trip. I havent actually gone on it yet, but it is going to be swell. For those of you who do not know about the sailing trip well....It's 12 guys on two 55 foot sailboats with 2 captains and 2 chefs in the British Virgin Islands.

1. Its hard to choose a favorite trip, but last spring break my family and I went on a cruise to The Cayman Islands and Jamaica that was incredible!
2. Since we were on a ship, my parents did not give me a curfew which was pretty amazing. We went of family excursions while we were in port, but it was a lot of fun.

My favorite trip was definitely going to Atlantis! It had so many different slides and all these pools and you never got bored! Also there were other families there that I looved and so we got to play with each other... that was pretty cool! Anyways, I didn't have any rules with my parents because I couldn't really go anywhere cause it was a resort that you can't really get out of, and I was like 12 and I didn't have anywhere to go! so yah... that was pretty cool! I will remember it forever!

My favorite was definetly my trip to Michigan with my friends. We went up there to visit another friend and stayed for a week with no one but ourselves on Lake Superior. It was cool because we had to be responsible for ourselves, the house, and our money. It definetly taught us all a lesson to keep the doors closed when a raccoon came in our house and ate all our food.

My favorite vacation would definantly have to be my trip to France. I went with a couple of the French teachers from the high school. I loved meeting all of the different people with their own cultural backgrounds in all parts of France. I honestly felt like I matured more in those 10 days than I would have in a whole school year. We had many rules: no boys, no drinking without teachers(even though we were legal), and we had to be back to the hotel by 12 or the doors would lock.

My favorite trip was to Canada last year. This was the first time I had ever been out of the country. Even though all of my family went it was still a lot of fun and I would definitly go back.

My most memorable vacation was when my family and I went to Alaska last summer. The ru le was that we couldn't sleep past seven. Which isn't that bad, but when it does not get dark until two in the morning it is kindof rough.

1. Family trips anywhere
2. No fighting with siblings, we're on vacation and having a good time so don't ruin it with stupid fights.

1. Trip to Dominican Republic.
2. We had to go eat breakfast every day with my grandmother and if we did that we could be free for the rest of the day, because it was torture enough to have to wake up early after we stayed up so late.

1. Trip to Disneyworld...8th grade maybe?
2. My dad had mapped out our plan for every day of our vacation. He specified every day with a different park and he organized which ride we would go on when so that we might get the maximum amount of fun for our money. We had to follow his plan. That was the rule.

1. Our trip to Cancun two summers ago
2. No one could complain. My dad had won the trip in a charity golf tournament and since it was free no one could complain about anything that went on during the trip. It made the trip much more enjoyable

1. Turks and Caicos
2. Although the trip was mostly relaxing my Dad is always into getting the "local flavor" of every place we go. So instead of taking atvantage of our nice resort, like my sister and I wanted, my dad made us go to this local conch restraunt. The food ended up being really good and we had a lot of fun, so I guess it was ok that my dad made us go.

1. This year's spring break trip to Tirrases, Costa Rica
2. One major rule: we could not walk anywhere in the town without a native Costa Rican that we knew from the church because there was a fear of the "gringo" getting jumped if he/she was alone. I had to walk past a major drug dealing corner to get from my house to the church.

My favorite vacation with my family was our safari in east africa. The unwritten rule was not to drink the water and not to touch anything at the villages so we wouldn't get sick.

My favorite vacation was to Snowmass, Colorado, this past Spring Break. I went snowboarding for five days straight. I was there with my family, my aunt and uncle and their young kids, and my two best friends. It was the best spring break, and no body got hurt this time on the mountain.
