I'm a Survivor, I'm gonna make it...

You have done it. You have survived a time which many of you may have affectionately referred to as "Hell Week". You have turned in your term paper (or you should have), and you have finished your Shakespeare Scenes. Hallelujah!!

So reflect on this nine weeks now. We started with the Song Lyric Project, discussed through Macbeth, processed the Term Paper, and dabbled in satire and the gothic novel. Answer these questions and add your own creative commentary:
  1. What was something we did that you liked or thought was helpful?
  2. What was something we did that you disliked or wondered "Why did we do this?"
  3. On a scale of 1-5 how would you rank your group's performance?
  4. On a scale of 1-5 how would you rank your effort on the research paper process?
  5. After seeing the calendar leading to graduation, what are you dreading the most?
  6. Final thoughts for saying goodbye to 3/4 of your final year of high school....

Mrs. C, i am so relieved that we have finished research papers and shakespeare groups. I think our
groups performance was outstanding. I think that is about as good as we could have hoped for. Except the fact that i accidently cut max off and complelety messed up my 20 liner. I propose that we do nothing for the rest of the year. Oh by the way please refrain from quoting Destiny's Child.

I can't remember anything that i liked something that i don't understand why we did was the song lyric project. On a scale of 1 to 5 i would give our group a 3.5. On my research paper i would say my effort was a 3. I am liking the calender for the last nine weeks i just wish that we did not have to read frankenstein.

I hated those papers almost as much as spinach on pizza, but they are over. Our group probably got over a 4, paper effort not so good, maybe a 3.5. Nothing would be nice, but movies would be better.

1. discuss the research paper
2. the acting
3. 10000
4. 10000
5. once i do that, i'll find out
6. at least the research paper will be over with.

the reason this is such a great response to your post is because i'm trying to listen to you talk about Frankenstein at the same time while trying to speed through and "wrap up" this blog. k bye

I enjoyed the Song Lyric Project. Why did we dabble in satire and the gothic novel. I rank my groups performance as a 4.5. I rank my research paper effort as a 5. I am looking forward to the 4th nine weeks. The year has gone by too fast.

Well our classes’ research papers are not in but mine is pretty much finished so I don’t have to scramble to finish it tonight. And I am glad that the Shakespeare plays are over, it was fun but I am such a terrible actor that it was kind of sad. Our group did ok I think but our acting skills weren’t really outstanding. I guess that is just something that you are either blessed with or not, and I was most certainly not!

Our group did a great job. Everyone in my group learned all of their lines and tried really hard. I would give everyone a 5 on a scale from 1 to 5.

I am so glad that we are done. I'm not doing another thing the rest of the semester.

I would give our perfomance a 4 out of 5 only because we got shown up on our fight scenes by the group that went after us; that would be ashton, ben, adam, kevin, PeeWee and anyone else. Their fight scene was flippin sweet

I am so happy that the play and the research paper is over. I really liked the song lyric project this nine weeks. I think our group performance deserves like a 4 and my research paper effort deserves a 5. Honestly, im dreading the nine weeks exam b/c I can't remember a lot of macbeth. I think we need a review study guide for the exam. That would be so helpful!

I am glad the research paper, and Shakespeare are over.

I am really glad that the research paper is over but i have to say that this has been the least stressful paper i have had to qrite as a high schooler.

1. The Song Lyric Project
2. At first the plays, but then I saw that it was just a way to look at Shakespeare differently if you played with it
3. 5- we finally got it on our last day of rehearsal- Do it COUNTRY! and it worked
4. 4
5. I Can't Believe is almost over!

I am so excited that my research paper is finally in. I am also glad that the acting is over with. I would defnitely give my groups 5 out of 5. I thought we worked hard and pulled it together well although in one of my groups we laughed the whole way through.

carolinec1 said...

I think our group was a 3.5 because we kind of messed up in our performance, but we had good effort so maybe a 4. I'd give my effort on my research paper a 4. The rest of the calander looks nice except for the Frakenstien part but that should be over soon.

Let's see...I liked doing the scenes, as much as I thought I would hate it, the end product was a lot of fun. I really am not sure what the purpose of the Songy Lyric Project was. I would give our group a 4.5. Eventhough we had our hard times, we pulled it through in the end. I would rank my effort a 4 on my research paper...I'm SO glad that is done with! Honestly I'm not too thrilled about Frankenstein, but I'm sure it will be fine. I can't belive 3/4 of high school is over...

hey B-cal! So honestly, I am so glad that we are done with every thing! Every one kept reading my sticker by the way... haha! The Song Lyric Project was probably the easiest and it was easy points, so I liked that. I liked not having to read Macbeth and you kind of doing it for us. I thought that our performance was wonderful and that we got a strong 4! I mean things could have been better like our fighting scenes... but you know who was in our groups so yah... My effort for the research paper though was pretty good but I definately good have done better, but I thought it was decent enough for a B or so, so I give it like a 3.5 maybe 4. I am just dreading the rest of the school year because I want to get out of Mtn Brook! But thanks for making English thus far so much fun! See you tomorrow!!!

1. I suppose acting out scenes was helpful in understanding more of Shakespeare.

2. Research paper

3. 5, everyone knew their lines and tried. Acting was not awful either and plus you said it was good.

4. 4, Deadlines have not been a good thing for me but on the actual paper I've tried hard.

5. Haven't looked at it.

:( and :)

I thought that the song lyric project was kind of random, yet it was an easy grade. I agree with Philip, for the most part we tried hard, and memorized our lines well...although our acting wasnt great we tried hard. But I am so glad that our research paper is done with.

Although I hate research papers I found the citation packet helpful and resourceful in refreshing my memory on MLA format. My groups performance ranks 4. Research paper rank 4. Adios 3rd nine weeks and hello Belize I am hitting the beach for spring break!

What was something we did that you disliked or wondered "Why did we do this?" I dont really remember
On a scale of 1-5 how would you rank your group's performance? A 5 defininatly because I slapped the everythingliving you know what out of Max and he took it like a champ.Plus, everyone (including myself) memorized all of their lines.
On a scale of 1-5 how would you rank your effort on the research paper process? 2..like Stu said- this is the least amount of effort i have ever done on a research paper.
After seeing the calendar leading to graduation, what are you dreading the most? I never looked at the calender
Final thoughts for saying goodbye to 3/4 of your final year of high school....Bittersweet

i haven't turned in my paper yet!!! i'm working on it right now...this really sucks! But i am glad that the scenes are over. Now we have to worry about Frankenstein stuff and nine weeks exams! No worries though cause spring break is EXTREMELY SOON!!! YAY!

I'm so glad that the research paper and the scenes are over!! My favorite thing this semester was the lyrics project. It was a cool way to learn something that might have otherwise been boring. I think our group worked really hard, so even though the performance had a few flaws, I think we deserve a 4.5. I'm not very excited about Frankenstein because it seems a little too bizzare to me, and I think the year has gone by way too fast.

KatieM1 said...

I think our group got a solid 5 on our performance. We had a lot of props and candles that set the scene, and even though we messed up, I think we still pulled it off. I love the fact that we only have like 9 more weeks, but seriously Mrs. C, youve been the best teacher ever. Im going to be sad when we have to leave!!

austinm1 said...

I liked how we read through Macbeth as a class. It was easier to understand and everyone actually read it. The song lyric project had good intentions, but was very time consuming. I felt like we could have learned all the poetic devices using a more efficient method. My group's performance probably ranks a 4 out of 5. For my effort on the research paper, I give myself a 2 in the preparation part and a 5 for the effort on the last day. Right now, I'm only thinking about spring break.

1. Just being honest I did not really enjoy any of this nine weeks. I guess that the reduction of reasearch paper work was good.
2. I was kind of confused as to why we did the music lyric project...
3. I would give us a 3.
On a scale of 1-5 how would you rank your effort on the research paper process?
4. I would say 2.5
After seeing the calendar leading to graduation, what are you dreading the most?
5. Essays...Grr...
6. At least there is only nine weeks left until graduation.

1. Something we did that was helpful was using the lab tops.
2. I am still wondering why we did the song lyric project.
3. Well I think Allie and I got a 5 but with Reid not knowing his lines we got a 2.
4. deffentitly a 5 I went all the way to the library and books stores to get research.
5. I am dreading most is work in general.
6. I am so happy the research paper is done!!

It was so awesome to turn the research paper in, now I am officially done with school. I can't wait for spring break, I even think I might be amped. Our scene performance was the best. I think Shakespeare should have made his version like ours.

HannonK6 said...

I really can't think right now because i just took a really hard math test, but i like your class especially since it comes after math.

MaxT6 said...

Our performance was fun, i think we tried really hard, considering who was in our group.

I think illl give myself about a 3 on effort for the paper. I tried hard, but not THAT hard.

I cant wait until i can leave this place and graduate. Only 10 more weeks!

sallyc1 said...

I think that our group rated a 4 on scenes. My research paper effort was a 5, definately. I am dreading finishing Shakespeare the rest of the nine weeks.

I am so glad that my research paper is finally done and that we finished our plays. At first I did not try on my research paper, but this week I have really tried to fix it up and I have worked pretty hard so I would give myself a 4.5. Also I think that our group did a lot better than all of us thought we would do, so I would give or group a 5. Overall, I am just glad to be done with both of these big projects.

Wow, i can't believe the research papers are over...i truly am a 100% second semester senior, only 9 weeks left of school...woo hoo! Reflecting on this past nine weeks, one thing i did like was the shakespeare scenes, they helped me to better understand middle english, one thing i disliked, was without a shred of doubt, was the research paper. In practice, i would definetly have to rate my group with a 5, but when it came time for the show, i believe my group was only able to perform with about a high two or low 3. Regarding the research paper, i have to say that i only put about a 2 into the whole thing, not for you to discourage my final grade. I really don't dread much of the next 9 weeks, except the fact that there are 9 weeks left of school...i only hope i can hang in seeing as ive already started to slip. And finally, my final thoughts on only having 1/4 left of high school...wow! but its gonna be sad, i mean, school is the only thing i have known the past 14 years of my life, and now its time for a new school with all new people....boy howdy i can not wait!

i hate to be a downer, but right now i'm dreading any sort of school stuff. i pretty much just want to hang out with my friends before we part ways. but about english class...i'm glad to have the research paper over with, our shakespeare group did fairly well, and i liked to song lyric project.

I just turned my research paper in today. It feels so good that it is finally over. School is basically over for me.

christ1 said...

Finally glad to have all our major stuff out of the way. Our play was alot better than I thought it was going to be; if I had to rate the effort it would be a 4 or 5 easily.
