Techie strikes again

Today you take your 9-weeks test online. Besides complaining about your score, tell me your thoughts on the process. I want real comments about the ease or difficulty of the software, features, setup, etc. Try not to complain about the questions or the score here. Reflect on the process.

I like taking tests this way. First, we don't have to wait forever for our grades, and it is less monotonous than paper tests.

It really wasn't that bad, it was just annoying when you computer would freeze up, and sometimes how when you are in deep thought and concentrating on the test you forget that you cannot hit the back button, the plus to it though is that you get your score back immediately.

I thought taking the test on the computer was great. I think it makes it much easier to take when it is on the computer except for the fact of the computers locking up. I would much rather take all of my test on the computer rather than writting it down.

Well I just took my online test. I didn’t think it was that difficult. I didn’t really study so I think my grade was pretty accurate. I don’t really like the online test online because I like to be able to cross answers out and write on my paper. But I think we will have to do this in college so I probably need to get use to it. Anyways, a few people had problems with their computers and I can see how that would be distracting or maybe confusing. I didn’t have any problems with my computer so it’s all good.

I hated this test, it was insane. THe fact that you have to be so technology savy, is hurting our grades. why do you try to resemble something like a teacher for the rest of the year Mrs. Caldwell, instead of some technology nerd.

The only thing about this process that is hard is the fact that you can not press back. I wasn't thinking and accidently pressed back and I could not get back to my test. That is a problem because sometimes if you are thinking about the test and accidently press back, then your test is ruined.

I like the process, because we got our grades back immediatley. It was very nice knowing what you got as soon as you had finished.

I thought the process of taking the exam on the internet was a success. Some may argue that it deleted them out because they hit the backspace but that is their own fault. I like knowing how I did on the test with immediate feedback instead of waiting until later to receive my score. I thought the process of adding pictures and linking intro paragraphs was a good thing. All in all I advocate exam taking on tests, although I would suggest that the laptops face the students as to prevent cheating.

I though it was an easy process all together. Except,my computer froze in the middle of taking it. It seems a lot faster using the computer. I get sick of using scantron.

Ha, techie does strike again...thats funny. You just said, "We had a few technical glitches, but not too many." I guess that sums it up. I was a little paranoid about something going on, but I like the automatic feedback, the easiness of it, and the effieciency.

hey. The test was a success. I made a bad grade, but other than that I thought it was great. I thought it was a little less serious because it was on the computers...but then again it might just be 6th period!!! haha, I thought it was a success!

I think it was a good idea, but it didn't go quite as well as planned. I personally did not have the most enjoyable experience because my computer froze. The problems were with the PDF files, so maybe that can be fixed. It was also annoying that since I took mine on paper after getting locked out that I did not get to see my grade like everyone else did. Oh well, not a big deal! Overall it was a good idea and it just needs to have some gliches worked out.

It thought it was really cool. I hate scantrons and arent many college coarses turning their tests into online tests??? good practice!!! But I deffinitly didnt like seeing my grade immediatley after I took that. I wasnt prepared for that bad of a grade on it?? can we say scale?? SCALE!!!!

i liked it, but at the same time i like taking tests on paper better, just because i can see all of the questions and they're in order, and i can cross out answers i know are wrong and everything.

Umm...In theory this sounded like an easy stress-free way of taking the test. Just one thing...My computer locked up halfway through the test. Oh, and not just one time, TWO TIMES! I dont know how i still managed to finish by the end of class, but if i were you i would stick to paper and pencil until you can find a error free way of distributing tests.

I like technology and i consider myself proficient. However, this online test thing is quite amateur. What's wrong with taking a test on paper. Your computer doesn't lock up if you take it on paper, if you press back you don't have to start over on paper. Computers are very useful but when it comes to test taking they are unnecessary.

maxg3 said...

it was alright. you know you're grade instantly, which can either be good or bad i guess. i guess it wasnt too bad. but yeah, later

walkerd3 said...

Im not a big fan of online test. The only good thing about it was you get your grade right away. Also you get to see what you missed. The bad part was that you couldn't go back to a question untill the end and then my computer froze so that was bad.

I liked the test online. I liked the whole thing that you can get your score right when your done with the test so you dont have to wait and worry about what you got. I also like the whole computer feel, like not taking it on paper, because for some reason that just throws me off.

GriffB5 said...

I like taking tests like this, but the exam was impossible. Some questions were easy, and a lot were hard.

jordanl5 said...

I like taking the test this way, but i think that the questions could have been a little easier. To much application instead of some regurgitation.

philipr5 said...

I didnt like taking the test on the computer because i got throuh 30 of the questions and then it froze and i had to start over. I also thought it was extremely too difficult.

I felt that the testing online was very efficient, plus it is convenient for both you and the students with the grading process.

I appreciate all opinions. Of course, it would be better if the opinions were not attacking a person. Elliot, when you are mature enough to post without sounding rude, you should come back and have a real original thought.

The computer was not difficult. I actually liked it because it was really short and gave me my test grade really fast. The only problem I would have had is if my computer had somehow erased everything I'd done...then it would have been a different story.

Johnf5 said...

I thought that it was really easy and user-friendly. I got my score back immediately and got to check my email after that. I wish all your exams were like this.

carolinec1 said...

I like taking test on paper better just because i hate technology, and it scares me that i might erase my test by pressing something wrong. i did like the fact that i found out my score right away. it also makes the test seem less stressful.

So I didn't think that the online process was that bad or whatever! I definately thought the test was going to be a bit easier, but when you don't study everything seems hard I guess. Anyways, I thought that it wasn't that bad of a technology thing because my computer worked, but for Rachael I felt really bad because her's didn't, and she had to finish hers on the scantron or whatever. But I think that is the worst thing that could happen when taking a test on a computer. I also thought that it was a little bit harder to take because I like it cross things out and that sort of thing, but I couldn't do that on the computer, for some reason I felt more rushed cause I didn't want it to freeze up! But it wasn't that bad luckily NO MORE EXAMS! ... hopefully! cya tomorrow b-cal!

I liked it a lot... the pictures helped make the mood lighter, the clicking and scrolling kept my motor skills running which helped me concentrate, and I liked getting my score right after the test.

I liked taking the test on the computer, that is definitely what it is going to be like in the future so it's good to get that experience in. The potential for technical errors creates a concern and the actual test was really frieken hard, oh well it's SB06.

jordanl5 said...

I prefer we take more tests in this way because it's an easier format. Plus, it makes test taking quicker, and you can find out about your grade the same day you take it. Some people may not like that, but I think of that as an advantage. I hope we continue to take tests in this fashion.

I didn't mind taking the test on the computer for many reasons. First, there were no matching sections. I hate when teachers give tests on the computer that contain matching sections because it is impossible to know which choices you used. The only thing i don't like about computerized multiple choice tests is that its harder and more confusing to go back and check over your answers to make sure you haven't skipped any questions. I guess it will take getting used to these types of tests.
